My 5mo has in the last 3 weeks learnt how to roll on to his tummy. (not back yet.) but every night since then i try to put him to bed in his cot about 8-8.30pm i will sit with him for 15mins then leave him to try a settel himself which he used to do.
But after 5 mins of leaving he has rolled on to his tummy and is screaming. this also makes him sick with the pressure on his tummy. so in the end i have to sit with him and hold his arms and legs still to stop him from rolling. (which i hate doing) :( But he will fall asleep.
He sleeps in a sleeping bag and i have tried rolling blankets up and putting them either side of him but he just rolls straight over the top of them. i have tried pillows too but they didnt work either, so i was wondering if anyone has any tips or advice to help me i dont want to hold him still anymore.
Thanx.

He's fine to sleep on his tummy if he can get there on his own. He may have trapped wind though so when he screams pick him up and wind him then you can put him on his back or his front. So long as he doesn't have a blanket near his face or toys in his cot or cot bumpers then he'll be fine.

My DD was exactly the same and would wake to be turned back on to her back 10 or 12 times a night. After about 3 months of this (everyone told me it was a phase that would pass in a few days!) I searched high and low for a solution and although I didn't need it in the end as that very same night DD learned to roll back, I found the Safe T sleep wrap. It was exactly what I needed had I found it a few months earlier. I have no idea whether it works although the online testimonials are favourable. Hope that helps and good luck.

I'd just help him to fall asleep till he can move enough to get himself into a comfortable position to go to sleep on his own.

I use a safe T sleep too, I think DS started undoing it around 7/8mths so we stopped using it and by then he was happy to roll etc during the night and not wake up. DD is 6mths and using it now, happy as a clam. Ive always swaddled my bubba's and I feel the safe T sleep helped them transition from swaddled in basinette to gro bags in cot :)

there are various things you can buy from places like kiddicare that stop them from rolling over.
