how long does your 6+ year old spend on the toilet?

ds has always had some issues with poos related to a medical issue as an infant and also gets somewhat distracted and plays while in the toilet. Lately it seems to have gone to extremes and want to know if he is just mucking around and it is quite common or if he is in there a disproportionate time compared with others and needs to get checked out. So when pooing how long does your child take?

Ds1 can take AGES. But only because he doesn't like wiping his bottom. If someone offers to wipe it for him (say we're in a rush to go out) he can finish amazingly quickly.

Mine reads the paper. He quite often channels a middle aged man.

oh I have answers thanks, so maybe I can relax a bit and not rush him to the medics?

I think its a male thing Grin, dd1 is quite quick even though she suffers with constipation, her dad on the other hand will spend up to an hour on the toilet (will read the paper, listen to the radio or surf the net on his phone) Grin. I wouldn't worry too much.

DS2 is 7yo & I timed him the other morning to be sure... Almost 13 minutes, I reckon. It seemed typical. We all know when he's gone for a poo because the house comes over all peaceful.

I have 2 other DSs & a DD, and they are in and out quite quickly. DH, however....

Bloody ages. Especially if there is something he doesn't want to do/eat. 'I'm just popping off for a poo', then you don't see him for, 10,20,30... mins (or until he thinks you have forgotton what you wanted him to do, his homework has disappeared, or the dog has eaten his dinner - not that we have a dog).

Its a boy thing I think.

Its not a boy thing in my houseXmas Grin.

Dd3 takes her DS in the loo with her and can be gone for ages. She doesn't go very regularly though. Only 2 or 3 times a week.

I need christmas cake...only goes 2 to 3 times a week....same here. Maybe that has something to do with it. He has always taken somewhere in the region of half an hour but yesterday was in there well over an hour. He admittedly had taken some small lego bits and bobs in there and has at times done origami with the toilet paper I know that there is at least some erm contemplative time going on as well as actual toileting
