Nothing can top the delight of motherhood. Seeing your babies grow into toddlers then into children with unique personalities. That sense of pride and the warm gushy feeling as they give you that special smile that only they can give?
? BYE LOSER!!? Shouted from the front door as my 10 yr old exits for school, and yes?it was directed at me.
She definitely got out on the wrong side of bed this morning, decided that she had more important things to do than get dressed for school and then spent over 20 minutes on the phone chatting. Interrupted by my incessant and increasingly demanding instructions that she had less than 10 minutes before her taxi came (it was now 7:50), she did actually get up at six o?clock, but decided that she HAD to play on her Nintendo DS and stomp around talking to herself about pink pyjamas before she got ready. Ask me where the change came about, I do not know, she woke up fine. But there was a gradual change into the Attitude Monster as she descended each step.
By the time she reached the bottom, it was the end of peace, as we know it.
So now, at 7:55, I am getting more and more red in the face, (although you can?t tell because I?m black), my delightful 10 year old is still on the telephone refusing to acknowledge my rants?the thing is?THERE IS NO ONE ON THE OTHER END!!!! She?s mouthing off like a teenager straight out of Eastenders, her free arm flailing everywhere in elaborate gestures of annoyance?.AND THERE?S NO-ONE THERE!!!
Anyway, with my much cajoling and peace keeping efforts between her and her brother, her taxi finally rolls up and with a more than gentle shove out the door, (I would say it was more of a violent push), I say my farewells, ? Hope you feel better at school darling?. The reply? ?. ? BYE LOSER!? as she stomps away muttering what I am sure was not complimentary.
