Baby Proportions!

My DS is 4.5 months old and makes me smile every time I dress him - not just for the 'usual' things, but because everything about him is or isn't in proportion! He wears 3-6 month tops, 6-9 month bottoms, and has 9-12 month socks! He isn't podgy and seems well proportioned to the average eye, but to DH and me his hands and feet are huge and his belly is, well, a filled out one!

Anyone else with a mis-proportioned little one?

Is he a hobbit?

At 14 months, ds is still wearing 9-12mth tops but 18-24mth bottoms. No hobbit feet to report though.

They're still always gorgeous and snuggly though even if they haven't worked out what size they're supposed to be. How bizarre that 16 years from now they'll be towering above us!!

Takes after his dad in the feet department... (atleast that's what I'm telling everyone!)

My mum always says 'big feet while a baby means a big when they're a man'!! Not sure how she knows that, though.

I always heard it was down to the length and girth of the fingers!! Short fat ones mean a short fat , long skinny ones a long, skinny and long fat ones, well......

I have to say you can often gauge a man's willy size from the size of his hands.

Probably a little too much info about me there...

Crumbs, MI - it's a good thing my dd1 isn't a boy cos she has teensy weensy little hands!

SoupDragon · 06/11/2003 22:40

My 2 both had short legs, round tummys and big feet DS1 has evened out somewhat but DS2 is still, um, "stocky".

Going by the comments, ds most definitely takes after his father - fat feet and long toes !

I know exactly how you feel Karen99, our DS who is now 12 weeks old went straight into 3-6 months babygrows and is just growing out of them. He is totally adorable and I wouldn't change anything for the world. Most people think he is older and I have to make sure they know how old he is. He is lovely and cuddly and completely in proportion for his size. He also has big hands but the dimples on them are so so cute.

Makes you want to kiss them all over, again and again!

Sometimes I find myself changing his clothes just because I want to get at that soft tum!

Know the feeling - ds never seems to be able to wear a whole outfit in the same size. Dungarees are an absolute nightmare as he has a long body relative to his legs, so when the body fits the legs are too long, and when the legs are the right length the body's too short.

Actually, dungarees apart, he's not too bad (he's 26 months and mostly in a mixture of 18-24 months and 2-3 years) but inconsistencies in clothing sizes certainly don't help matters.

I had to laugh last weekend when I picked a couple of things out of his wardrobe for him and realised he was wearing trousers which were labelled 6-12 months (though they've got a 12" inside leg so they most have been modelled on a pretty strange 6 month old), a jumper which was labelled 4 years (but is smaller than most of the 18-24 month ones we've got), and a fleece labelled (sic) "12-18 years"! Can anyone beat that?
