How do you do it?! My 9 mo has got 6 almost 8 teeth, we do blw and he's breastfed so us putting anything in his mouth is alien to him and he gets upset and just clamps his mouth shut so I don't push it as I don't want it to be a big issue. He has the occasional chew on the toothbrush and I got one of those teether toothbrush things but there's no way we are anywhere near twice a day. Any tips?

Teeth cleaning is a real pita! I think its worth just persevering with it though and doing it for him. I know they have a moan but its only for a few seconds!

I say this as we didnt push it for DD and then had a much more protracted battle later on.. only just fixed and she is nearly three! My sil always lay her ds across her lap and cleaned his teeth and didnt have a problem (after a while!)

I'm now taking the same approach with ds who got teeth stupid early!! If you really dont want the fight tho you can buy soft silicone tooth brushes that they chew .. at this age I think its more about getting into the habit rather than deep cleaning iykwim..

We've had screaming, writhing about and mouth being clamped shut etc since ours was 7.5 mo when her first tooth came through up till now at 14 months old. We only do it once a day as it's so traumatic! Sorry i can't help - but I do sympathise. Ours now has 6 teeth as well so I really wanted to start cleaning them properly but it's impossible, she writhes about and if you don't pin her down she just crawls away and hides! We tried showing her on her teddy and getting teddy to brush her teeth but that didn't help. She will clean her own teeth by copying Daddy or whatever, but obviously she just chews the brush really so we have to keep trying. All you can do is keep trying and protect the teeth as best you can, by limiting your baby's intake of sugary foods, and by avoiding them drinking fruit juice which is particularly bad for teeth. Good luck!
