Uncomfortable clothes

My 5 year old DD says that pretty much all her clothes are uncomfortable. They are the right size for her, they don't have rough stitching on them and any problem labels are cut out. I have terrible trouble with her and her pants especially, she seems to want very full briefs that go quite high up on her back and right down under her bottom properly, which my mum found for her, but she says they are still wrong! I do not know what to do, it can take her ages to get dressed and it normally ends up with her winging and whining about her clothes. The washing powder we use is non bio and has not caused her any problem with her skin. I wonder whether to speak to a doctor about it? Anyone else have similar problems?

It was socks for my DD. From about the age of 4 or 5 she complained constantly that they were uncomfortable. They either came too far/not far enough up her leg or the stitching inside by the toes irritated her - no matter how carefully I chose her socks to have little or no stitching.

She drove me bonkers with it. Every time I found a pair that she would wear, a few weeks later she would complain again that they were not comfy anymore.

She's 7 now and over it, thankfully.

ds is like this with pants. He is only 5 but will only wear pants that are age 7-8 as they are bigger and comfier. He also complains a lot about his socks and only wears plain grey (school) socks every day including weekends as they dont annoy his feet

Thanks, I will have a look. My Mum said that she took my DD out to John Lewis to look at jeans and DD wanted a pair but said they were uncomfortable. I can't see any sign of eczema on her skin, although it is a bit dry ish... maybe it is something like that. I'm so fed up with 'uncomfortable' clothes that are fine and fit well. :(

Ds is constantly complaining about his clothes being uncomfortable. Socks, vests, shirts, the LOT!
As soon as he is distracted by a book, TV prog or something else I can show him the problem goes. He loves being in his Pj's or nude.
One particular pair of PJ's, from John Lewis, he loves. They are really soft and I'm constantly feeling tshirts and clothes that match up to this!

I bribe him to get dressed in the morning. He can't draw until he gets dressed. And as he's getting dressed I ask him what he's gonna draw, what colour etc to distract. This was a lot harder last year. It does get easier.
Can you bribe and distract with something she loves to talk about/do?

Both mine hate jeans as they can dig in. Tummy ache? Do you use softener? I would try aqueous cream or diprobase to moisturise.

SquishyCinnamonSwirls · 24/11/2011 19:45

Moisturise her with aqueous cream, dd and I both have days where everything just feels itchy and scratchy and just wrong! So I can understand.

DD hates particularly knickers with a lacey scalloped edging, so always goes for boyshort type ones or big granny knicker type things with plain edging.

yes had similar problems, solved (mostly) with chocolate raisins & other distractions.
Not to dismiss kids with deeper sensory & skin issues, but for borderline cases like DS, they just need time to get used to certain things.

OK we sorted the jeans problems by getting boys jeans, as they are not 'hipster' style like most of the girls jeans. Also found some Charlie & Lola pants in larger sizes in Mothercare, so bought as many bigger sizes as possible. DD said her new John Lewis pants are 'too soft like a kitten', so apparently that's not OK either.
