4 month old growling!?

Any ideas what this could be? He usually is pushing back or arching at the same time. It happens sometimes when try and feed him, even though i'm pretty sure he's hungry and does eventually take the bottle.....just seems a battle. People at my playgroup said it could be teething/hunger/tiredness/wind. Isn't that all there is at this age.....and how should I know which is the problem?! Confused.com!!! :-)

My dd (22 weeks) growls, but I put it down that we growl at her when we're playing with her toy dogs and she's a massive copy cat! She even growled at my mums dogs this morning when they were barking at each other!!

If arching back, particularly when you are trying to feed him, it could be wind?

Arching or going a bit rigid was always a sign that my 3 had wind and needed a burp. Particularly a problem for me as my let down was fast and they would be gasping trying to swallow milk and so take in air.
If they arch or go rigid I hold them upright facing outwards with my arm across their tummy and that really helps.

The other growling thing ds3 has done since about 4-5 months we worked out was him attempting to copy his brothers doing dinosaur roars (they do it a lot)Grin

Thank you. I'm pretty sure it's nothing to worry about.....but he's got a cold at the moment too and I think it's making his throat more sore. Bless. No brothers or sisters yet so will have to keep my eye on dh.....maybe he's doing dinosaur noises!! Ha.Wink

My DD growled for ages from the age of around 6 months. It actually got really embarrassing when I took her out as she would sit in her pushchair and growl at people like something out of The Exorcist. People told me it was just her 'finding her voice'. It's pretty normal for them to make all sorts of sounds.

Its perfectly normal for a 4 mnth old child to grow. Thats what they do and they will continue to grow until they're about 18.

Could it be the start of teething? Perhaps feeding hurts hence the arching and growling.

My DD would do this when she was teething and my now 5 month old DS now does this too and his first tooth is almost there.

Read it again mummsybore! It says GROWLING!!! I'm not concerned that my 4 month old is growing...I was expecting that tbh. Wink
