My little girl will be 4 in April and every morning when she wakes up she announces who she is eg. Moonlight the kitten, Bangers the hamster etc. The character can change a number of times a day and she narrates her every move throughout the day. I think it is fascinating if a bit exhausting. Does any one else have experience of this? Should I be reading to her more? Is she loopy? :-)

ha ha ha! no she's not loopy! my dd does the same, every few days she is a different character and dh and I are included too, e.g. one week we're all numberjacks, then disney characters. Yes it's exhausting! When patience is low, I try to think of it as lots of imagination, a good thing!

Ds doesn't pretend to be a character himself but it get treated to the daily adventures of Ben the dog who lives in Sun Valley, which appears to be a whole different country whilst remaining just down the road from Bideford.

I must confess I do sometimes find it beyond exhausting. I had to stop myself from screaming at him to shut up this morning as it is constant waffly nonsense and he gets really cross if I don't respond to each and every snippet of info. Obviously I don't constantly ignore him but boy, he can go on for hours.

And whilst I have noted your dd is 3 and have no wish to alarm you, I feel it is my duty to tell you ds is 6! You have years of this ahead of you. We had a house full of imaginary friends at 3. At least ben doesn't live with us!

Oh I feel better now. The whole family gets roped in too. Before going to bed I was a mummy horse named Talou, then my DH was a robot and DD2 a robot baby with rusty ears. But not to worry because DD1 was a fish/ shark mummy to us all...GrinBlush

My DS constantly does this. It is very tiring for the whole family as we are all allocated parts in his stories. But like others, I think it shows a good imagination and hopefully our children will grow up to very creative and perhaps win Oscars one day!

Oh yes, it happens here too! Dd almost 4 starts every other sentence with "now you be..." and I get allocated some part or another, usually the villan! I then get into huge trouble if I refer to her by the wrong name!
