Does your 3yr old still nap?

DD1 is 3.4 and mostly still naps after lunch for 1.5/2 hours.
Sleeps fine at night from approx 8 till 6/6.30am

In the past week she has dropped the odd nap which is fine but really struggles around 4/5 pm and nods off on the sofa/ turns into a demon child!
She has always been a child needing more/ rulled by sleep. Even as a baby she was a nightmare when tired. DD2 is 18mths and can go all day on 10 mins sleep so completely different!

I have no issue with her still napping. In fact when her and DD2 go nap at the same time after lunch its bliss! :)
My mother however has a real issue with her still napping and goes on and on about how she shouldnt be napping at this age and how I should keep her awake untill bedtime.
Curious to see if DD1 is really that abnormal!?

That's all I'm sayin'.

No, seriously, sounds great! Your DD2 sounds more like my DS, who doesn't need as much sleep as he is supposed to get but they are all different. I miss nap time, though, and I think so does he, sometimes.

Enjoy, enjoy, enjoy.

Nope, my 3 year old dropped his afternoon nap shortly after his brother started school (3y 5mo).

They both sleep 7pm ish to 6.30am ish at night.

To be honest I wish he would nap towards the end of the week, he looks shattered by the time Friday afternoon rolls around.

My DS1 is 3.7 and keeps the same hours as yr DD1. My DS2 is 2.7 and needs less sleep on the whole. So, all in all similar to yours. It doesn't cross my mind to think anything of their behaviour/pattern and I suggest you do the same. They'll grow out of it in their own time, and anyway they'll have to soon for school!

no mine doesnt but i dont think its that abnormal either way, i know other 3 yr old who are like yours

He stopped for a bit round 2.10, then went up to Preschool at nursery at 3 and rapidly got exhausted so is back having them again. In fact he now gets so tired from nursery that he falls asleep on the way home and often doesn't wake in time to have breakfast there, and has 2 hour naps on non-nursery days (he usually has about an hour there now, but none of the other preschoolers do - he is the youngest and smallest though).

He does sometimes play (and play silly buggers!) rather than going to sleep at night, though, and if he's in his room being fairly quiet we may not notice and hound him back to bed.
I predict as soon as dc2 is born in Feb, he will stop napping ever. Hmm

One did one isn't even 3 yet and stopped having a proper nap ages ago, just flops in car sometimes if we are out.

Nope....DS dropped his at 2...dd is 2 now and dropped her last nap at around 18 months...both sleep from 6pm-7am though...though DS is now asking for a later bedtime. He is almost 5 though.

I would keep the nap if it's part of the routine and DD doesn't fight it, it's when they fight it that it's not worth doing and it goes. DS napped every day until 3 and 2 months and then between 3 and 2 months and 3.10 it was one or two naps a week, often at the weekend when Daddy was here. DD, just turned 3, rarely naps at home, but will do at nursery occassionally and is better with a nap often once or twice a week at home. She sleeps 6.45-7 though, so maybe if you have a day when your DD doesn't nap get her to bed earlier and then hopefully she won't be so cranky at 4/5pm.

Doesn't really matter when they quit nap other than if they are doing full days at school nursery/somewhere not easy to nap then it's a bit easier if they are used not to doing it.

My ds napped even past 4 and sometimes still does after lunch at the weekend (he's 6). Some kids are more like that. You could try reducing the nap and she may sleep longer at night (it would be nice if she woke at 7 I guess!). My twins are 3.2 and sometimes nap, sometimes don't. I much prefer if they nap after lunch as if they nod off at 5, it's hideous trying to wake them up and then they don't sleep even if it was only a 5 min nap (while I was cooking and couldn't keep them up).

So, go with it, I'd say.
