What time does your 12yo go to bed?

And what time do they go to sleep?.

DS goes to sleep sometime between 9 and 9.30, which I'm happy with. Any later than 9.30 is late, to me. His friends say they go to bed much later and I would take that with a pinch of salt but he's just opened a fb account (on the condition that I have full access) and I see his friends are posting at 10.30pm and even later. Are they doing it from their beds?

We only have one pc and it's in the sitting room, I'm beginning to think that's a very good thing.

I start shooing DD bedward at about 9. She's generally not in it till after 9:30; might be asleep by 10 but often nearer 10:30. No phones or electronic stuff in bedroom - its not a rule imposed by me, she just never takes them in there, and she still likes me to read to her at bedtime.

Our alarm goes at 6:25 and she has to be out of bed by 6:50 - out of house at 7:30 sharp to catch bus.

She stays up a bit later Fri/Sat evenings.

Shock (in an admiring way!) about a child getting up at 6am and doing homework! Clearly he's a lark,

He is Grimma, and I envy him his ability to leap out of bed with a grin at some unholy hour every single day.

When he was a toddler it was exhausting and we tried everything to change his hours. Now, of course, it's a blessing. How I would love to be able to get up at the crack of dawn and do useful things but I can't. I've tried, and I just can't.

Thing is, probably most of his friends get up an hour (or two, if they live near school) later - so they may get the same amount of sleep just more owlishly.

School night 9.00pm, although I am sure he does not go to sleep straight away but his bedroom is in the dark. He has to be up at 7.00am on a school morning.

Weekends maybe 10.30ish

10 during the week. 10.30-11.00 on the weekends. She can read if she'd like. She has never needed much sleep, TBH.

I always thought teenagers couldn't get enough sleep! Or perhaps that was just me. I could stay up as late as I wanted, but took myself to bed at 9 every night. Then, I didn't have to get up till 7:30am and still needed an extra hour as soon as I came home from school :-/

Nothing has changed now - I still can't get enough!

schroeder · 18/11/2011 21:56

DS in bed by 8.30, asleep soon after I would hope, but I don't check.

zeeboo · 18/11/2011 21:58

Dd goes at 8:30 and can read for as long as she likes. I think she generally goes to sleep at 9-9:30

MoreBeta · 18/11/2011 22:00

During the week at 8.00 pm and weekends it is 8.30 and very occassioanally 9.00 pm.

He is very tired in the week as he plays a lot of sport.

HSMM · 18/11/2011 22:06

DD is 12. Bed at 9. Lights out at 10. No phone or laptop in room.
