If so you can have mine.

She is busy upstairs having a tantrum because I told her to get a start on clearing up her room (which is a total bombsite)

She 'hates' me.

Well, she has till 2 to have made a start, or I am bin bagging the lot (temporart storagem but she doesn't know that)

Anyone want her? God knows what teengae years will be like!

bless and the teen years haven't even started. Kids see tidying up as a chore. Is there anyway you could bribe her and make her see a good reason why her room must be tidy. Maybe so that when she has friends over and they go to her room she can find things easier.
only advice i can over im afraid as i only have babys and toddlers.

Blandmum · 01/01/2006 13:42

She is doing it now. the curse of the black bag wins again

No bribes, sorry, she was very, very rude and at one point kicked me. This is a non-negociable point atm!

my son has been telling me he hates me on and off for the last year, normally when i put my foot down about something like doing the chores. its upsetting but i keep reminding myself he doesnt mean it really, i am also dreading teen years!hes now 11.

Passionflower · 01/01/2006 15:18

DD1 tells me she hates me and she wants to go and live with granny whenever she's annoyed with me. I think the important is to ignore. I usually say something like "well I don't care if you think you don't love me I love you anyway".

I'm hoping that if she doesn't get a rise out of it she'll give up .

Shocked me, which is why she has spent the day in her room tidying it up!

personally I am coming to the conclusion that I definitely don;t want a 9 year old dd. which is worrying cos I currently have a 5 year old dd and have heard rumours that she will one day tunr into a 9 year old. can this really be true? what can I do?

Blandmum · 01/01/2006 17:17

Just tell her that you will not stand for it, and cut directly to 10

OTOH, that might not be any better!

but they come out the other side, briefly before becoming teenagers. DD1 is 11 now and rather lovely. Couldn't abide her 8-10. Ewwwwwwwwwwww

Sadly DD2 is 7 and moving rapidly towards the 8-10. Not my favourite age at all.

I could swap you one eight year old son for your nine year old, if you like. We've just come back from a walk, the first time we've been out in days, and he spoiled it completely for all of us by moaning the whole way.

Not even a trip to the park on the way back appeased the little prince. "I hate parks, and I hate you". Yes, and I hate you too darling...

Blandmum · 01/01/2006 17:23

On days like this it is a damn good thing that we love them, isn't it? Because I didn't like her much today!

Absolutely! I didn't know it was possible to love someone and thoroughly dislike them at the same time
