Cruisers for 12 month old who is not quite walking yet?

Hi

Wonder if you can help?

My DD's nursery have asked me to get her a pair of cruisers. They have said that they would really help her progress with walking and that its difficult for them that she is just wearing socks when they take her outside to play in wet and damp weather.

I mentioned that I thought it was best to keep babies in bare feet until walking was well established but they didn't seem to agree and in fairness I'm now starting to wonder too as I took her to the park last weekend only to have to come home because her little feet were freezing and soaking wet after a bit of climbing around on the slide.

She is on her feet constantly now, either with someone holding her hands to allow her to 'walk' or cruising along furniture etc.

What do you all think? Will putting her in a pair of soft shoes be OK? I've heard it can damaged the soft bones in babies feet. Am I being a little PFB...?

Thanks

Get her some shoes, it's not like she'll be in the 24/7.

well i kept mine out of shoes when first walking, i think they recomend for the first 4-6wks? i always put mine in those little leather slip ons like daisy roots, or inch blue, which are a bit better but not waterproof.

you could get a cheap pair of wellies for outdoors maybe, or just get some of the pre-walkers, i think clarks sell them but they arent cheap!

I was with you on the not putting them in shoes too soon with my first son but due to when he started walking being outside and getting wet, cold and muddy wasn't a problem. Second time around I decided I would do more harm with scratches and cold feet than shoes (my son just went over any terrain) so he wore shoes outside and bare feet whenever he was inside. Both have no foot problems and can walk fine.
