Wonky Bum

My DS is almost six months old and is very lively and mobile. He loves to bounce up and down Strong legs) and roll all over the place. I am trying to encourage him to sit. He will sit for small amounts of time leaning back against me, or on our bed, but really doesn't like it. He is quite a slim baby (9th centile) and also has a misaligned bottom cleft (really don't know what else to call it, other than wonky bum crack!) and although his hip scan showed up no problems, he doesn't like to seem to bend the way that is required for sitting. I would say his hips seem "tight". Has anyone else any experience of this? Is it something I ought to be discussing with the HV/GP? He is my first, so it's probable I am being PFB about this, but by the same token, I don't want to overlook something that could be more complicated....help!

I just found this coversation on another formula and it seems as though it's a harmless anomaly...like having crooked teeth or something! Go to the docs though to check it out and set your mind at rest.

MumblingAndBloodyRagDoll - thanks for your reply and also thanks for the link. I think a trip to the GP is order and if nothing else, will help settle my mind.

DS has this - he is now 4 and saw a paediatrician who thought he is just wonky (after checking the x-ray). He was late(ish) rolling, sitting and crawling, but he's fine now and races around. We did do exercises with him though from about 4m when he began to see an osteopath (he wasn't holding his head up), and he did look like sitting was painful for him. If you're worried, I'd get the opinion of the GP.

Actually seeing an osteopath might be better than a GP.
