Alarm bells or me being paranoid?!

Have constantly worried about DS and his behaviour. His speech has always been advanced so the HV dismissed my worries.

Main concerns are:
He is a bit obsessive. He has select toys that go absolutely everywhere and has meltdowns when he can't find them.
He will repeat sentences until he gets an answer
Angry outbursts for no apparent reason- will bite or start kicking things at random
Has to be hugged in a certain way- moves my arms until they are in the 'right' place
Slightly manic- rarely still
Likes things in order- all toy cars have to be lined up the right way, toys can either be standing up or laying down not a mixture.
High pitched screeching at random
Doesn't like sleeves or trouser legs being halfway up arm or leg
Zips have to be zipped up

This may just be toddler behaviour I know that but thought I'd get some opinions. He's my first toddler but in my life pre children I was a nursery assistant and some of these I was told are warning signs.

How old is he?

My 2.8 DS2 does/has done many of these and actually when you see them listed all together I can understand your worries but in my own son I've never been concerned that they are anything other than "normal" toddler behaviour.

He's 2.8 as well. I've been worried since he was about 15months and spent hours spinning!

If you are concerned you should make an appt with your GP,rather than talk to a HV.

Have tried posting in Special Needs: Children - you may get more responders in there....

Perhaps have a read of The Highly Sensitive Child and the website that goes with it www.hsperson.com/pages/child.htm

I'd say thats all normal behaviour, my dd would create if i didnt go through the same bedtime routine and would make me start again if I got one word wrong when saying goodnight. Gloves went on the left hand first and were taken off of the right hand first or all hell would break loose, and all of her toys were lined up the same way before she could sleep. She now has 2 children of her own & is training to be a teacher ! Smile
