My daughter lost her front teeth about 2 months ago and there's no sign of her new ones!

Well, the title says it all really. They were wobbly for ages before they finaly fell out. We asumed they'd been pushed out by the adult teeth.
Is this normal, or should I take her to the dentist?

Normal IME.

DS1 lost his and it was about 6 or 7 months until the big ones came through. You could see the gap getting wider for them, his jaw needed to adjust as I suspect so does your daughter's. Now he has them i can see why- they are much much bigger than his baby teeth and now way would they have fitted beforehand.

Hope that reassures you!

DS1 waited 3 years for 1, although that was a tooth lost in a fall! Other than that we've waited anything between 3 days and 3 months I think.

My DS (6) lost his top two teeth a few months ago and still no sign of any new ones.

He has gone on to loose a third on the top and has other wobbly ones on the bottom!

He lost his bottom two teeth last year and they are still growing. It's all very slow! I wouldn't worry about it.

Chuff, did your dd have knock those front teeth when she was younger? How old is she now? If they were wobbly due to trauma, it may be a while before the new ones come through (depending on her age). If there's been no trauma, then they may be just beneath the gum and should come through soon.

(am a dentist) xx

Thanks everyone. Smile She hasn't knocked them at all, as far as I know. I think she's going to have quite small teeth like her dad and her MIL. She had a gap in her front baby teeth, so hopefully there'll be plenty of room.
I'm working on stopping her from sucking her thumb, so the new teeth don't come through wonky.
I'm glad it's quite normal for them to take a long time. Her best friend of the same age has two new massive front teeth, so I just wondered if there are cases when the adult teeth don't come through at all. (Can you tell, she's an only child?) [hwink]

There are cases of missing adult teeth, but very very very rarely are they the upper central incisors. What would be more common is the aligment of the teeth-if they're not aligned straight they won't come through without orthodontic help. Even this is extremely rare-especially for BOTH centrals to be malaligned! They will come through-each child is different.. My DS is 8 months and no teeth as yet-his cousin who is 3 weeks younger has 3! Am not concerned in the slightest. I know he has teeth, and I know they'll come through as and when... Def no dental issues for you to worry about :-) x
