FTINY - My friends ds did!! Remember the scalding hot bath incident?

But my ds is 4.5yrs old and he can't (or doesn't want to try) climb in the bath himself.

sarahinphuket · 22/12/2005 14:27

my dd can and she is 2.5

tassis · 22/12/2005 14:27

my ds will be 3 in April and he's just started doing this.

climbing and physical stuff hasn't been his strengh so I doubt he's above average, although he is tall! I'm sure long legs help!

elliott · 22/12/2005 14:27

Mine could - can't remember what age it started at though. In easier than out!

SackAche · 22/12/2005 14:28

Why Misdee???

Hulababy · 22/12/2005 14:29

DD can but I do make sure she uses a little stool when doing it as I feel it is safer that way.

FairyTaleinNewYork · 22/12/2005 14:29

thanks. can they do it safely? (apart from the scalding water incident ) i am fiulling in my dd2 disability forms and i have to lift her in and out of the bath as she cant do it safely (falls flat on her face), and need to compare her to a normal/typical child of the same age.

Kelly1978 · 22/12/2005 14:29

mine can.

Kelly1978 · 22/12/2005 14:30

ds wouldn't fall flat on face. he is pretty reliable.

Feistybird · 22/12/2005 14:30

she can, but only recently and she's only just 3.

but baths are very slippy....

colditz · 22/12/2005 14:30

My 2.8 year old can and does (with me there cringing)

FairyTaleinNewYork · 22/12/2005 14:31

i know they are. but she is hefty. its back breaking work.

Dd has just turned 3 and she wants to climb in by herself - I'm sure she could do it, but I won't let her because I'm not convinced she could climb in safely (ie staying upright). I think it would be dangerous in any case. I wouldn't let ds climb in unassisted until he was about 4, and even now, age 5, I don't allow him to climb in or out without dh or me being in the room with him.

merryTissmas · 22/12/2005 14:31

dd is nearly 4 and can't, but we do have awkward taps in the middle of the edge of the bath (IYSWIM), which prevent her swinging her leg over!

sevensuzyswongsaswimming · 22/12/2005 14:31

yes
my 2.3 ds can
is this a competition?

FairyTaleinNewYork · 22/12/2005 14:33

unfortunatly not a competition, see post further down as to why.

OComeOliveFaithfOil · 22/12/2005 14:35

mine can't, she is 3

but she is not very good at stairs or kerbs (!) either and cries

FairyTaleinNewYork · 22/12/2005 14:36

i dont ahve stairs to worry about lol. i am on the bathing/washing/dressing section atm.

so can yours dress themselves or have a good attempt?

OP posts:
OComeOliveFaithfOil · 22/12/2005 14:37

coat - yes

pulls up pants/knickers (badly)

FairyTaleinNewYork · 22/12/2005 14:38

DinosaurInAManger · 22/12/2005 14:38

My DS2 could do it with relative ease at the age of three, misdee, and he's not exactly athletic, so if you are having to lift your daughter in and out, I would definitely put that on the form.

sevensuzyswongsaswimming · 22/12/2005 14:38

oh I see
my ds1 is a big hefty oaf and couldn't do it til he was over 3 if that's any use

NutcrackingXmas · 22/12/2005 14:39

My ds is 3 and he tries but I have to help him.

eefs · 22/12/2005 14:39

ds2, just 2 yrs can and could for the last while.

Hulababy · 22/12/2005 14:39

Drres themselves? Pretty much she can - can't do fiddly buttons or start off zips. She struggles a bit with tights. Can put shoes on but can only fasten in velcro of Doodles type.
