dd1 is 4 and was the most easy baby/toddler in the world, so much so that we rarely consulted books or asked for advice, so i'm feeling a bit of a virgin when it comes to what dd2 is up to at the moment and I'm just wondering if this is normal. btw, this hasn't been helped by a silly cow at work uesterday when i went in to visit, making comments along the lines of 'oo, her sleeping's not very good for a 10 wk old is it?', whereas i thought she was doing ok! so here goes:

she's 10 weeks and weighs about 11lbs. she's bottle fed and takes about 4oz per feed on average. in the day she will rarely go more than 2.5/3hours, hardly ever finishes the bottle (leaves about 1oz) but eats in one go and brings wind up fine.

at night she feeds about 10/11pm then sleeps until about 5 or 6 or sometimes 7am (more usually 5-6am). dd1 was sleeping loads longer than this at 8 weeks but i can't remember how much milk she took - got a feeling it was more though. is this about par for the course? she's contented and alert although doesn't like being put down alone - she prefers to be cuddled all the time!

Her sleep sounds ok to me. Especially at night.

sounds fab for a 10 week old baby

I assume silly cow at work was either a) not a mother or b) didn't have a baby when she commented

even now DD is 19 months I find it difficult to remember early sleep patterns but do know she woke up twice in the night at that time

definitely sounds normal to me - ignore the silly woman at work, some people just feel they have to comment even if there is nothing to comment on...

Sound amazing and incredible to me, and my dd is 10 MONTHS old.

me and dp only have 1 ds but we have a few friends with kids.
1 thing i have learnt is all kids are the different. none are the same so its a learning curve with each and every1...

The food intervals sound normal. I know people (older people in particular) expect bottlefeeders to do 4-hourly feeds but I never managed it with ds. He did 3-hourly at the most. And me, I can't go 3 hours in between snacks!

The not finishing the bottle thing means she is getting enough and stopping cos she wants to, so thats ok.

you're so right. i'm cross with myself for even bringing this up really as i usually have more faith in myself but i guess this silly cow got to me a bit (she has 2 kids of 8 and 4) and at 5am today i started doubting myself a bit and worrying. thanks for the reassurance (and no, then, i'm NOT swapping her )
