Would like to know as we are a bit concerned about ds' development. Just tell me whatever comes into your mind. Thanks.

Could hardly talk at 27 months.

Could stab with fork, not good with spoon.

was walking and running, think he could do little jumps

FrostyTheGloworm · 13/12/2005 19:19

scribble with pen and paper
lots of words and a few senrences
climb up and down stairs
feed herself
very very simple games on internet
knows 1 to 10 , but not in right order

a bit of a random list, will write more as i think of them.
what kind of things were u thinking of?

Curmudgeonlett · 13/12/2005 19:19

where are your areas of concern .. that might be easier to address as development is so different from one child to the next

colditz · 13/12/2005 19:20

Oh, yes, could scribble.

Nemoinapeartree · 13/12/2005 19:21

depends what your concerns are.
DS is 26mths just and can run jump walk climb
he talks but sounds like a teletubbie for half his words.
Can count to 10 and recognise some letters esp ones in his name.
can use fork and spoon/feed himself

Nemoinapeartree · 13/12/2005 19:21

agree about scribbling and can draw circles. Recognises about 5 shapes.

FrostyTheGloworm · 13/12/2005 19:26

i used to worry that dd, (almost 26mth), was slow to do lots of things.
Now realise that i was just comparing her to ds too much, he has always been fairly advanced and did most things earlier than normal, I guess I expected them both to be the same...and can now say for sure that all kids are different and will do things at different times and in different ways.

nikkie · 13/12/2005 19:34

My dd2 is 4.2 and she is still at the scribbling stage and has only just learnt how to draw a circle so there is a massive variation inchildren.
Is there any particular areas you are concerned about?

FlameRobin · 13/12/2005 19:42

Mine is pretty much like Frosty's... She knows a load of colours, and can count to 8 in order most of the time (all of that is from me chuckin them into every day life though... doubt the second child will get as much input )... she can recognise the letter S (for "Shrek" again... ).

Feeds herself as and when she can be bothered...

Can climb amazingly well, and works out which item of furniture needs to be dragged across the room/turned over to get the right height to reach things .

Can work the video (but not the tv) - another bad sign methinks!!!

Scribbles... when given a picture tries to colour it in

Can throw huge tantrums over being given papple juice instead of ball juice (apple and orange for non-bronwyn speaking people)

FlameRobin · 13/12/2005 19:43

Oooh, is dry, but is scared stiff of pooing, so can request a nappy to poo in... And can wet herself on demand to get attention .

Some of these aren't necessarily good achievements!!!

FlameRobin · 13/12/2005 19:45

She's 30 months!!! A lot of that she's only got in the last month or so...

colditz · 13/12/2005 19:52

Mine is not dry at 32 months.

can, however, draw real pictures that really look like cars, pushchairs, bikes etc.

colditz · 13/12/2005 19:53

FR don't talk to me about abble and oyange juice! ARGHH, "want it, don't want it, want it, don't want it NOOOO"

FlameRobin · 13/12/2005 19:59

You're doing better than me - DD is convinced that oranges are "balls" and will hear none of this "orange" stuff!!!

She was just over enthusiastic with the dryness I think - she got stroppy about wearing nappies one day, and I just let her get on with it.

CaChristmasLista · 13/12/2005 20:15

What are your concerns?

My DS2 is 27 months. He can chat for England in 6-8 ish word sentences... name a few colours... count to 10 reliably 99% of time... run, jump... talks to himself constantly when playing... feeds himself with a fork and spoon... amuses himself playing alone happily for at least half an hour at a time... points to and names things in shops constantly "That light bulb isn't it Mummy?" etc. He has recently started to use the potty and has done lots of wees and poos on it so will be going into undies in next 6 weeks or so.

That said he is completely different to DS1 in most of the stuff above - DS1 didn't start talking until he was coming up to 3 and this affected a lot of areas. Potty training and other physical skills were about the same though.

HappyMumof2TurtleDoves · 13/12/2005 20:24

dd is 24 months.

She talks very well, lots and lots of words, also sentances, things like "I'll get your boots" "Get me out of here please" "I want to sit down chair"

Knows colours, red, blue, yellow, green, black, brown, white, pink.

Knows lots of nursery rhymes/songs.

Knows 1-20.

Scribbles/draws, beginning to draw simple people, eg, round head and two dots for the eyes.

Eats with knife and fork. Feeds herself. Puts on her own shoes. Can take her coat off.

Awareness of bowel movements, beginning to get a bit phobic I think. Also knows when she needs a wee.

Can run, jump, climb etc.

I'll keep thinking and post anymore I think of.......

Anything in particular you are concerned about?

Marneychristmas · 13/12/2005 20:29

dd 23 months can
count to 10,
name colours
name shapes (circle, square, triangle)
Can link up to 5 words together
can use a spoon and fork
Draw a circle and square
sings a twinkle twinkle

she cant;
jump
go down stairs
and doesnt like walking outside.

EliBeentoSantasGrotto · 13/12/2005 20:41

23 months: knows colours, big vocab in French, smaller in English (bilingual) but only now beginning to string them together in either language. Knows numbers to 10 but not in right order (not all, anyway). Has complex imaginative play: mummies and babies, doctors, farmers, animals, etc and is constantly talking to her toys. Can't jump with two feet, holds on to rails/hand to walk up and down stairs. Can draw circles (ish) and lines. Not interested in puzzles, but can thread beads and put teeny slippers on her Playmobil doll. Uses fork and spoon but if hungry will ditch either and use hands. Kisses, says she loves us, has mini tantrums and is gorgeous - have no idea if she's ahead or behind in things though!

santabops · 13/12/2005 21:09

colditz

santabops · 13/12/2005 21:11

blueshoes · 13/12/2005 21:24

ambulanceman, my dd can't do a lot of things described on this thread. She is 27 months.

ambulanceman · 13/12/2005 22:13

having seen this i will stop worrying, we were a bit concerned about his physical development, but I am sure he will catch up.

Colditz/bops - my 30 mth (i think thats right 2.5?! brain gone!) also has the juice drink thing. Thought I had it sussed - she was having 4 drinks (apple, orange water and milk) worked for a week until she got a new cup and now throws wobblers about what cup each is in!

Looking forward to the day she can get me a drink.....how many months is that?

FlameRobin · 14/12/2005 10:03

LM - Never wish that.... DD suddenly sussed how to pour juice a few weeks ago - all was fine for the first few days, and then we started having accidents!!! I have had a sticky kitchen that I'm mopping constantly for weeks!!!
