2.5yr old moving house- any tips?

We hope to move soon and wondered what (if anything) I should say to my son. He adapts incredibly well to new situations (holidays, staying at others peoples houses, new creches, playgroups). So I am not particulary worried about him settling. He loved house hunting and still asks a lot, are we going to see houses today?

Just wondered how other people apporached this. Did you talk about it much or not? Did they say goodbye?

We talked about it a bit but we didn't make a big deal about it.

On the day though (DS was 17 months and 3.25 when we moved; DD 21 months) they were at the childminders and we made sure their bedrooms were sorted by the time they came home. So even though everything else in the house was fairly chaotic at least when they were most vulnerable to the change (i.e. when going to sleep/waking) it seemed familiar.

We moved within the same town though both times so everything outside the house was the same.

We moved when dd was nearly 2
She was absolutely fine!
We told her, she appeared to find the whole thing a jolly game

Moved house when DS was 2 - let him "pick" new bedroom then bought him special present that "appeared" in new house on move-in day.

Moved country when DS was 3. Same really.

No problems but still misses his Bulgaria house as it was much bigger.

Have moved again since, but we moved when ds1 was 2.5. We made him a little scrap book, with old and new houses, his new room, removal lorry, etc. He really loved leafing through this and it helped him through the odd day when, perhaps in the car, he'd say "want to go home" (meaning "back to old home please"!). But overall he adapted really well. Your ds sounds like he'll take it all in his stride.

that sounds like a nice idea. Although it does involve actual effort on my part! He has his own photo album so I could put them in that. I wanted to take pics of all the rooms anyway as its something you never do but is really interesting years later.
