I think I have reached the end of my tether reagrding DD and her incontinence.

DD had a bout of constipation just before she turned 4, she is now 5.5. She wasn't brilliant at using the loo before then, I can safely say that she has never been potty trained and would do one poo a day in her night nappy before then. Since then she pretty much wets and soils herself multiple times on a daily basis. I have just caught her in her brothers bedroom, crossing her legs wanting to go but not and the bathroom is next door. She is on senakot but I don't think this is a constipation problem anymore as it makes no difference to her poos whether she is on it or not. She has been unde a paediatrician for 18 months and to be honest I am at a loss as to what to do now.

We tend to go out in the mornings because out and about I can pretty much gurantee she will be OK until about 3pm (the length of the school day) but at home she doesn't seem to care.

Anyone been in this position and can either tell me that it gets better or any other suggestions?

Have you tried ERIC (it's a charity which helps people in your situation and has a wealth of advice and support on its website?) :)

You are not alone. Lots of children have problems. It's not your daughter's fault nor yours.

Thank you so much, what a fantastic website, will give their helpline a call next week.

Have you tried a McTimoney chiropractor?? Sounds weird but if she has a misaligned spine, sometimes it can interfere with the messages sent from the bowel and bladder to the brain. They have some practitioners who specialize in kids see here. It is not painful, all my children 8,6 and 3 have had treatments over the years. Where in the country are you.

Dorset, did the name not give enough clues Grin

Haven't heard of that either at this point willing to give anything a go.

Oh no. Is the paediatrician a specialist? Because this level of witholding/seeming incontinence is a very specific medical issue.

This book is excellent too.

No she is a community paediatrician but whenever I have been to the GP about it they all say she is the best. The book looks good.
