My 3 year old tends to like the colour pink over any other colours. Recently he has asked me on 2 occassions if i could paint his nails. I said no and told him only girls use them. I'm not sure if i have said the right thing! He does love buzz lightyear and playing with cars and dinosaurs as well. Would love to hear from others whose little boys also like girly things and what reactions/ways you dealt with it. Thanks.

my boys have all gone through phases of loving pink! and i regularly paint their nails when they ask :)

my 6yr old loves fairies and all things pink and sparkly and has even worn a pink silk dress to school on non uniform day, as well as a tinkerbell costume. he also owns a purple fairy scooter :) i just let him be who he is, a very boisterous boy, who likes guns and cars and getting dirty and playing football AND pink and fairies :) its fine go with the flow :)

All my boys have worn nail varnish at that age and my DS1 loves pink - he is 7 and very laddish - tis the 'in' colour doncha know Wink

Why won't you let him paint his nails? That is just mean!

Dont worry about it. DS1 loved pink at this age and also wanted his nails painted. When a little older and I was breastfeeding DS2 he became obsessed by bras and insisted on wearing one, so I let him, then he forgot about it. Its just a stage.

My friend thought her mil wouldn't mind if she let her boys have blue nailvarnish. She was wrong. Mil did mind. So far, all three boys still have testicles and the older 2 are both straight. Other one too young to know.

I think we have scared the OP back to NM off with our casual use of logic.

It's a common reaction, Minnie. Don't lose sleep.

dgs is 2.5 and says pink is his favourite colour-he asked his mum to paint his toenails but she said ,'when you are a big boy....as big as Mummy.'

Would you object or worry about a girl loving blue or wanting to pretend she has a beard? Why is it a worry if boys imitate women but not if girls imitate men? Seems really anti-female to me, I encourage my ds to wear pink and play with 'girls' toys as much as I will do the reverse with dd.

I don't see any problem with him liking pink - it is only a colour. I think 3 is too young for children to have their nails painted though regardless of gender.
