Wondered how old your DC was/were when they started to count/recognise numbers.

My (now 3yo) DD was a bit of a counting late starter going by the above accounts, she didn't really talk til 2 but started understanding numbers pretty soon after, she's now a bit obsessed with numbers and can recite them independently up to 60ish and 'read' them pretty accurately too. She'll quite happily count items (like building blocks etc) up in to the thirties etc. We're not escapees from the G&T section either - neither her father nor I are particularly interested in math so I'm not sure where her love came from but I just thought it showed that it was ok to be a late counter.

So annoyed I didn't notice date (told you I wasn't good with numbers...)

Ds is 3 in December and he can "count" up to 10 , then sort of have a go at the teens culminating in a loud "twenty!". He can actually count up to 4, so he will turn a toy car over and count the wheels 1,2,3,4, then turn a toy motorbike over and count 2 wheels. He'll bring me 3 blue cars if I ask him to. I think that's pretty good considering 4 months ago he only had about 15 words!
