I know it sounds really silly, but it's really annoying!!!!!!! Even a two minute journey from nursery, the shoes come off.

how old is she? what kind of shoes does she wear?

get her lace ups so that she can't undo them? if shoes are fitted and done up properly they shouldn;t be able to get them off without undoing them....

NannyL · 24/11/2005 23:37

how old is (s)he

CAN he put them back on himself at all (even if it takes ages) if so make him do it every time (he'll soon get bored.

if not, apart from putting them on tight theres not a lot u can do....

things to stop may help.... nursary rhyme tapes, a snack to eat etc and PRAISE PRAISE PRAISE etc when shoes are left on.

No comment when taken off either, so they dont think it bothers you!

She is 2.2 and the shoes have buckles. She doesn't undo them- just uses her feet to get them off, even if I do them up tight, which I don't want to do in case it damages her feet.

were they fitted at a shoe shop? i only ask because i work at clarks, and if shoes can be pulled off the foot then they don't fit properly and we wouldn't sell them...
properly fitted shoes shouldn't come off unless undone properly

dollybird · 27/11/2005 21:37

Hi Starlover. Yes they were fitted at Clarks. DS is going for new shoes when we come back from hols, so I'll ask them to check hers aswell.

Thanks for the tips Nannyl - she's only 2.3 so can't do her own shoes yet - will have to try not commenting when she takes them off - that's usually the best thing to do, but also the hardest!

DD does this and dh's suggestion was superglue- eek. Sorry no help, she also does it in the pram

dollybird · 27/11/2005 21:44

Luckily DD doesn't take them off in the pushchair - I imagine you could lose a lot of shoes if you didn't keep an eye out!

I don't think you can do anything.

How about not putting them on until you arrive and then at least you're only having to do it once!

Sorry, don't mean to sound flippant. Two of my 3 have done it and I know how annoying it is. She'll grow out of it!

popsycalindisguise · 28/11/2005 21:22

more annoyingly my ds1 does this but only with one...and so making the odd sock problem ten times worse

NomDePlume · 28/11/2005 21:23

Mine is 3y4m and still does it, even on the shortest journeys ! It used to drive me bonkers but now we just factor an extra 5 minutes into any journey to wrestle them back onto her feet

fireflyfairy2 · 28/11/2005 21:56

My 11 month old lost a brand new pair of cruiser thingys at a huge shopping outlet the weekend before last... left my name and number at the enquiries/lost and found desk if they were handed in but not had a call yet!

dollybird · 05/12/2005 22:03

Qucik update - took her to Clarks on Saturday and they did her shoes up really tight and said they were fine as long as you could still get a finger under the strap - she hasn't taken them off since - result!!
