My little girl has just turned 3, and in the past three months or so, we have gone from a perfect sleeper to a complete nightmare.
She goes to bed at about 8.30, then will typically sleep until around 1-2am before getting up 'shouting' - she will want to go in our bed generally, or into the bed in the spare room.
When we put her back to her bed, she will either get back up again immediately, or within half an hour. This pattern usually continues until it is time to get up, or until it is waking up time and she comes into our bedroom.
She is getting worse. What started as once a night has now turned into 5-6 times, every night. We've had ONE uninterrupted night's sleep in three months.
We've tried the non-interaction technique when putting her back down, and it makes no odds. If we just leave her, she will get more and more hysterical and beats on our bedroom door until we get up for her!
We've tried tiring her out during the day, and putting her to bed later. It didn't work.
We have also tried a 'nightime/daytime' clock and told her to only get out of bed when the sun appears on it. Everyone who reviewed it said it was a wonder! Not for us, she just ignores it completely :(
I don't know where to go from here. My partner needs to sleep, she cannot carry on like this, and I work 12hr days and it is killing me. Her daytime behaviour is also suffering because she is tired and ratty. I know it must be something we are doing, because the one night she slept through was when my mum came to visit a few weeks back!
Should we look at taking toys away when she is bad? It's definitely not night terrors, she never wakes up hysterical, she just ends up that way if we don't do something. I don't want to leave her to cry or shut her in her room, she'll is incredibly stubborn and will just keep going until she throws up!
HEEEEEELLLLPPPPP!!!!
