Ok i know the advice is to use cows milk after one year as a drink. We've been using it in cereal etc for quite a while with no probs and DS turned one last tuesday so i thought i'd start giving him his day time bottle as cows milk but he just doesn't seem to be taking to it the same and was sick one day. Now he's got a cold so granny (who looks after him 3 days a week) has said she's given him formula just until he's over his cold (fair enough). This aside he just doesn't seem to like it like he does formula. DS was BF to 10 m but was also given formula and didn't have a preference for either.

Also is cow milk really that much cheaper? Obviously formula looks expensive as it comes in a small box in powdered form but when its all made up how many litres of milk is it (i will admit i really can't be arsed to work it out)

I don't know which is more expensive, but I think I would continue with formula until he's well, and then try milk again.

Maybe he's outgrowing the bottle and would prefer to use a cup? As long as he is having enough to drink, and getting milk in cereal, yoghurts, etc, I would have thought that would be enough.

Good luck.

I haven't worked it out (you'd have to know how many scoops you got out of a packet) but I would be absolutely CERTAIN that it's probably at least double the cost of cows milk. I'd move him on to a cup too - at a year he doesn't need bottles any more and he will get all the calcium and iron he needs from cheese and yogurt etc if he eats those.
