At what age does this settle? DD is 3 and has always had a preference to left hand, now draws and writes about 90% of the time with her left.

There is a great book (and website) called "Right Hand, Left Hand" about handedness- lots of interesting anecdotes/research about it- frequency/ things that affect frequency/ common misconceptions etc

My sister is an extreme left hander. I am an extreme right hander (in that I will cross my right hand across my body to pick up a glass rather than use my left hand. My mum is completely ambidextrous, so God knows how that works out!

When I was a small child I was quite ambidextrous, but I now do everything with my left hand except one thing, frisby.
I can't throw one at all with my left hand, but I'm quite good with my right.
Go figure!! :o

OMG! I can't believe that there are people on here who are genuinely comparing being left-handed with being disabled Shock!

Incredible!

I have also had people joke to me about my handedness, but clearly I'm not quite so sensitive as others and have a sense of perspective about it.

Maybe we should start a Left Handed Rights Group though and march on Downing Street. It's clearly a big issue Hmm.

Yes, I'm up for that.
I might bring my DB along too. He's ginger so he probably counts as being defective too!!! :o

One leftie and one rightie. DS1 is the only leftie in the family but has always been very left handed, though he is right footed. We have had to buy him more left handed equipment as he's got older and as a leftie spin bower he is quite popular during the cricket season.

DS is a rightie, from about the age of 1 year, he used his right hand for most things.
It was interesting for me to discover what DS would be because I am a rightie and DH is a leftie. I wouldn't have minded either way though :)
