Anyone else's dc reach milestones at very different ages?

My dd1 was a really late walker, at 18-and-a-half months, but my dd2 has just started at 12 months. I wasn't too worried about dd1 at the time because I just assumed it 'runs in the family' (my sister's dc are all late walkers), but now my dd2 has started so young it's got me thinking. Is it normal for them to hit milestones at such different ages? Anyone got any experience of this, walking or otherwise? Thanks.

I imagine it is. They are all individual after all. My DD1 started talking in sentences at around 19/20 months. At 2.9 yrs we are still waiting for her sister to do the same.
They both walked at exactly the same age, a week after their 1st birthdays but I think that was just coincidence.

Yep I'm sure it's normal. No 2 children are the same. :)

My two were very different - DS1 was 14.5 mths and DS2 11mths for walking but lots of other milestones were different. Having said that DS1 has some minor SN which might account for some of the difference but I still think me and my brother for example did things at different ages.

What age did children't walk on their father's side of the family? Don't forget that his genes have an influence too.

Hi, thanks for replies. Their father walked about 15 months, I think, so somewhere in the middle. It seems that most other siblings I know walked around the same age as each other, give or take a month or two.
