Where did this puking baby come from?

My three month old has suddenly started being sick after feeds. I think it's mostly because he a) shoves his hands in his month too far and all the time, which makes him reach and b) because he's much more active - wants to lean forward, sit up etc.

but... it's making him sick up his feeds.

does anyone have any advice as to how to help him keep his feeds down better, or is this just a phase?

Is he breast or bottle-fed? He is probably bringing up a lot less than you think and it may just be because he doesn't need it at the moment - babies very sensibly throw up anything that's spare!

thanks octavia.

he's ebf on demand. he occassionally possets a little, but this seems much more than that. he's always been a windy baby, but not pukey.

Has he been feeding a lot more recently? There's a huge growth spurt at 16 weeks and generally they start boosting your milk supply a couple of weeks in advance in preparation. It may have gone up more than he needs right now, so the excess is being ejected!

that makes sense! he is feeding more frequently and needs a few huge feeds before bed now.

thank you for the suggestion. i'll keep an eye on his feeds.

Also don't be surprised if his sleeping patterns change around 15-16 weeks - their brains are fizzing with new stuff and it can result in some wakeful nights!

thanks octavia.

he's never really slept through anyway. tends to sleep in 4 hour chunks. if he regressess to 2 hour chunks, i'll prepare for days of pyjamas!
