can anyone tell me if this is normal?? She gets plenty of fruit and veg every day and drinks lots of juice too. When she does go she struggles and gets very upset but it's not hard it's quite soft and messy????

Maybe she's having too much fruit and juice, making it quite soft. Is her bum red afterwards? If not, I wouldn't worry too much. Make sure she has plenty of water too.

Hiya, my dd is 5 now but since she was about that age she was always 3 or more days. A couple of times she went up to 6 days! Took her to doctors who basically said unless any signs of pain or discomfort not to worry. Like your child she ate a good healthy diet with plenty of fruit and veg. Doctor told me she regulate herself as she got older and she has but still occasionally can go up to 4 days! I know is really worrying but as long as not suffering this may just be normal for her just now and will get better. Just a wee tip though that seemed to work for us to help her along try a slightly warmer though obv not really hot bath and for some reason pink grapefruit hijuice heavily diluted.

We have the same with our DD1 3yrs10m now and still only going every 4 - 6 days. Doc gave us movicol for when it gets really long between movements, but doesn't seem to help much as she too eats loads of fruit and veg and drinks loads and has normal consistancy movements, just really large when they come. Phoned and spoke to another doc for second opinion and he said he wouldn't even bother with the movicol. He advised a male in his own family had same problem (am presuming his son, from ensuing conversation,) and called hit a lazy bowel and said it was just normal for some children. I was concerned DD1 may be in pain due to size of movement, as she too seems to get a bit upset when going, but he said it should be ok provided she didn't actually tear. DD1 doesn't seem too bothered even straight afterwards, just needs help flushing and wiping when she does go. I will probably re-check with another doctor before she goes to school in Sept, just in case they change their advice, but otherwise hope she grows out of it. Good luck.
