hi everyone,

the past few days my 16 week old baby boy has been fractious upset, irritable his cheeks are warm and flushed...he just screamed for about 40 mins this morning non stop, tried everything...comforting, cuddles, rocking, singing...nothing would soothe him.
I gave him some calpol as i was at my wits end, really dont want to just keep giving him calpol ( medicine ) though

does anyone have any tips or advice?

take him to GP? May be an ear infection / tonsillitis / something of that sort. Does he have a temperature?

My DS got his first tooth at 3 months, the second followed 2 weeks later. Could be a growth spurt? Do you think he could be ill? A cold maybe? If he doesn't settle down I'd take him to your GP. Just for your piece of mind.

It is possible he is teething at 16 weeks. If he has fever take him to the GP like the other posters said.

You poor thing! I really know what this feels like - it is so hard. I have found that irritabilty and red cheeks can be a sign of teething for even younger babies, but it is always best to see GP like the other mums say. Don't be too hard on yourself either by feeling guilty about giving calpol. That's what it's there for!

I use baby bonjela when I think ds is teething. It seems to make him feel better instantly so may be worth a try :)

Sorry to tag on to your thread here but my DS is 14 wks old and has all the signs of teething too, I think! He's still not able to grasp onto things so teething rings etc seem to be a waste of time at the moment, have bought some teething gel but I'm a bit nervous about using it all the time (only used it once so far!), can anyone help a slightly nervous new mum with any more advice??
