11mo DD biting

DD2 is 11 mo and had just started biting people, she will just crawl/cruise/sidle up to anyone and bite them on whatever flesh is showing. Toes, legs, arms and noses are prime tagets. She just bites then grins at me when I say no or don't or she crawls off giggling at the response she gets.

Please HELP!

Waiting in anticipation of replies!

My 10mo DS is doing this too. He too scampers off giggling, the little sadist monkey.

My DS1 bit me once at about that age while BF (ouch!). I said 'No' calmly, and put him down on the floor for ten seconds. He hated that, and never did it again. DS2 did what you're describing, biting people and thinking it was a game. (saying 'No' etc. just increased the idea it was a game). I tried saying a quiet, calm 'no' and putting him down on the floor and walking away (just for ten seconds). He burst into distraught tears. I felt rather guilty (he was just playing and his feelings were so hurt) but after doing it a couple of times he stopped biting. So I decided it was the best thing (as he might get bad reactions from biting someone else, esp another child/baby). You have to do it very calmly and quietly though, and avoid making them think it is part of a game or it just encourages them!

That is exactly what I do!! She is just not fussed by the no or the putting down and if she is down she can bite ankles which makes people squeak at the unexpectedness of the nip and that makes her laugh like a drain!!

yes, i think any reaction is fun for them! you have to try and give zero reaction (which is v. difficult esp when taken by surprise). I think she will probably grow out of it - mine did, so if she's not in nursery or anything where it might cause a problem with other people, just ignore it as much as possible and hopefully it will just fade away!

Ha ha! 10 mo old DD bit me for the first time the night before last. Got me on the upper arm and it was really sore, couldn't help emitting a loud 'OWW'! Grin

Well this morning we woke to 4 new teeth and the biting isn't so bad today, although she did bite DD1's naked bottom whilst DD1 was getting ready for nursery!

my 11 mo DS also does this and i tell him no, but sometimes i think its an overenthusiastic kiss, he puts his arms round me, says 'ahhhhhhhhhhh' and then tries to eat me!!! Feel bad telling him off when he's being so loving
