Why do you think he has worms in his stomach??

Some babies do grind their teeth a lot, especially if they haven't had them for very long. How old is he?

sasa15 · 05/11/2005 19:34

he is 16 months and half.....

Has he been grinding them for long, because sometimes it's just a habit.

sasa15 · 05/11/2005 19:36

he seems a strange behave....
they do say the babies can sometimes have little worms in the stomac...and they can eliminate with syrup...so he can finally poo them...

did you hear of that?

No, I've never heard of babies having worms in their stomach. If he's had a bad cold and a throat infection it's hardly surprising he doesn't want to eat.

Sounds like she should take him back to see the doctor if he's been treated but is still poorly.

sasa15 · 05/11/2005 19:41

he has been to the doctor for the last 2-3 weeks...every 3-4 days.....keep changing antibiotic.....nothing works....keep loosing weight....that's why thinking about worms....now

sasa, it's completely normal for babies to grind, read this

JanH · 05/11/2005 19:52

(Most people who grind do it when they're asleep by the way - it makes such a horrendous noise they couldn't do it awake!)

thank you

Sasa - I just posted on your other thread.

Worms - anyone can get thread worms, including small children and they can be eliminated easily with something from the chemist. BUT, I don't see any connection with what you've described. I thought ds had worms once and the chemist advised that you'd probably see them either in the poo or around the anus. They look like little strands of cotton. White and maybe an inch long. They move. you'd notice if he had them - at least that was the advice I was given. I'm sure you could google & find pictures or more advice if you're worried.

Grinding - as the others have said. I think it's probably just experimenting - my dd is doing it just now as she has new teeth on the top so she's finding out what she can do with them.

thank you again!

My dd used to do this but grew out of it. I think.

I do it. The dentist noticed. She said it was to do with stress. (Never. ) I had a mouth guard made to fit over my bottom teeth to stop me grinding off any more enamel.

Not that they'd give these to kids of course.

Janh has given you an excellent link, it is more likely just to be because he is getting used to his teeth coming thro. He will grown out of it once he has all his teeth.

I have been a dental nurse for 15 years and have never heard of grinding being associated with worms of any kind. I have been grinding for years & can assure I don't have worms!
