Light hearted thread Please!!! Not counting mummy or daddy.
My DD at 10 months said Dog
By age 1 she had about 30 words including flower, balloon, shoes, drink, more and dummy.

DS at 9 1/2 months said Cat. Now 10 months and has said Grandma (she is OVER the moon!!) I'm curiously awaiting what's next!

However we have neither a cat or a dog!

dd was 8 months, and said 'Bob' whilst looking at Tim Henman at the telly

ds about the same age said aa-oo; after a few weeks MIL clicked that he was saying it after you gave him something and it was 'thank you'

I never actually counted the number of words they could say though

13mo DD has quite recently started saying 'nanana' for banana, and 'yeah'. I'm glad it's 'yeah' and not 'no', but there's plenty time for that, at least she's agreeable for the moment!

Her repertoire of animal noises is more impressive than her vocabulary, although now apparently monkeys say 'banana' instead of 'oo oo oo' HmmGrin

First word was 'pop' at around 7 months, speaking in sentences at 1, then massive explosion into thousands of words at about 16 months. Including stuff such as 'borborygmus' and 'bamboozled'. Could hold normal conversations about pretty much anything in her world she could relate to. Is 2-1/2 and speaks like a 4 year old or even older. Is reading words.

That doesn't particularly impress me, what does is her sense of humour and verbal play. I'm am surprised by that.

I am under no illusions that she just likes words and playing with them and likes to talk and has picked it up quickly.

She is not particularly brighter or gifted than any other child.
