Stop reacting, it won't make any difference to the day he finally gets it but you'll feel less stressed if you can accept that it's not that he can't be bothered but that by the time he realises he needs to go, he can't hold on any longer.

What helped me and DD is a year older and still has occasional accidents - is to teach your child to deal with it themselves, so they go get new pants and trousers and put the wet ones in the laundry basket etc. - If you give them the responsibility then they can deal with it and you don't have to.

And they do get there in their own time. :)

We have the same thing with ds who is 3.9 but with poos. Oddly he's fine with wees. Poos he just can't seem to tell when he needs to go or not or if he can then he doesn't relax enough on the toilet to actually do it. Then 2 minutes later when he's playing he's done a bit in his pants Angry.

Not good but I think the less we stress the better. All I do is clean him up remind him it's meant to go in the toilet and then leave him to it again. It's frustrating but I have tried everything and nothing makes and difference so I can't worry about it anymore. Even the doctors say he'll grow out of it and one day it will just click etc.

Are these proper accidents or "leaks". We had leaks at this age all the time. A year later they have gone completely- actually went some time ago.
