strange question to post in behaviour/development?

I go for design for all of my children. A pattern/colour combination that catches the eye, Preferably without cartoon style characters on. Older children prefer something cool, such as quicksilver style board shorts, dd1 if its pink she'll wear it and dd2 too young for an opinion and i buy the ones with swim nappy in them as shes still young.

colditz · 23/04/2011 18:39

Fit and colour.

Pannarai · 23/04/2011 19:24

My mum always get me two pieces type... she told me when you grow up a bit, you can still wear this suit ... I wondering if any mums have same ideas with mine :-)

How old are you Pannarai if your mum is still buying your swimmers?
Our DD had a rash top and bottoms from being very young (Oman and Thailand). she now wears one piece costumes, she doesn't like bikinis which is good because they are not nice on little girls.

FriedEggyAndSlippery · 24/04/2011 06:40

I'm going to get a two-piece one next time because it's so much less hassle when DD needs the loo!

It's really hard to get a decent non tarty tankini though [buconfused]

ATM she wears one of those UV suits anyway so we might just get a top and shorts instead.

Other than that it's definitely design, got to be bright and interesting.

No cut out bits or bikinis ....

OrangeBernard · 24/04/2011 07:33

Fit and pattern.

fivegomadindorset · 24/04/2011 07:37

DD wears boys board shorts type things and a rash vest.

CheerfulYank · 24/04/2011 07:53

Is the font on Mumsnet suddenly different? Or is it just my computer? Confused

Anyway, DS wears shorts and rash guard top. If I had a DD I'd probably do a rash top with a swimsuit bottom.

BeeMyBaby · 24/04/2011 09:16

we got DD an all in one- covers to elbow and knee suit (14 months) but reading these comments I think next time I will just get her some swim pants and stick a t-shirt on her (like I had when I was a child).

SummerRain · 24/04/2011 09:21

For dd's swim lessons: good one piece design that's fairly tight fitting so she doesn't spend the lesson fiddling with floppy straps etc (skinny rake of a child)

For ds' in beach or garden: board shorts and if very sunny and we'll be out for hours a UV top.

for dd in beach or garden: tankini in lovely bright colours. (tesco often have nice ones with longish tops btw)

jubilee10 · 24/04/2011 11:07

For swimming lessons a shortie wetsuit - the pool is cold. For beach a two piece uv protected suit (m&s). Otherwise whatever 'hand me down trunks' we get given.

Pannarai · 24/04/2011 12:30

@kreecherlivesupstairs
I mean when I was a little girl(20 years ago)... by the way I totally agree with FriedEggyAndSlippery :-) I should get two piece for my DD

Friedeggand slippery, speedo do some lovely girls 2 peice costumes, may only find them on the speedo website or next catalogue.

changingmynameagain · 24/04/2011 13:55

Can I get it in Tescos with the shopping Grin

For swimming in, one piece

For running around on the beach/in the garden - a tankini

Scarleg · 24/04/2011 14:17

Danthe4th, Speedo is quite pricy for me... Do you think it worths to spend? or I should get my DD a cheap one in Tesco?
