Change in behaviour of 15 month old

Hello - my 15 month old baby girl was, until a couple of weeks ago, almost always a complete joy, smiley, happy, chatty. Recently, she has become whiny, grizzly and generally discontented - and then, pretty much once a day, she throws a whopper of a tantrum, which no amount of comforting seems to help. Nothing has changed in our home life or in her routine, but, having been a very slow crawler and quite timid, she has started to pull herself up to standing, and suddenly seems more adventurous too. I suppose I wanted to see if anyone feels that this is normal toddler behaviour? Or if it is something to worry about? Can anyone give me any tips on the best way to help her feel better when the dark clouds gather? thank you.

Could be a developmental spurt - there's one at 64/5 weeks from their due date and babies often get 'clingy, cranky and crying' in the weeks beforehand. There is a book explaining it called The Wonder Weeks by two scientists who researched all the developmental spurts up to 20 months.

If that's the cause, it'll go away by itself - she just needs comfort, reassurance etc when she wants it.
