Silent reflux...now projectile vomiting straught AFTER medicine. What is that about?!

The title says it all really....my nearly 5 month old was diagnosed with silent reflux at around 8 weeks and has been on ranitidine since. (Inf Gav just bunged her up and did nothing else) -it took some time to work and now I can notice a complete difference. She is breast fed (wont take a bottle).

Anyway, over the past few weeks Ive noticed she has really forceful projectile vomits and these are usually a minute or so after Ive given her the ranitidine. She is sick probably about 2 /3 times a week, which isn't loads, but it is usually an entire feed that comes up and at least a metre projecting! Incidentally, she never vomited with the reflux.

I use the little syringes to give her the ranitidine and have tried putting it in, in stages, all at once etc but doesnt seem to make much difference. She hates it anyway. Anyone have experience of this? Not sure whether to reduce dosage or cut out altogether or stay the same.

(One thing I have noticed is it definitely happens if I give her the ranitidine AFTER the feed - this never used to happen). Otherwise she is happy and kicking after the vomiting....

Going to doc on monday but wondering ahead of this if anyone had any direct experience of this and does Ranitidine actually cause vomiting? (BTW my brother had Pyloric Senosis but he was sick much more often ie every 36 hours)

Just want to say that I really feel for you, we have a DD with cows milk protein allergy and severe reflux on ranitidine/carobel/nutramigen and I know how wearing it is.

Get to the docs, and good luck

Just dropping in to see how you are today, if you want to talk I will be about later

My son had this until he was 18months.:-((( I kept going back to the GP and she said is normal ,:-(((, I now see it wasn't. At one point I was so upset with this and thought it will never going to end, I would go through piles of laundry midday as he would do it over the bed, in the lounge, all over the carpets.:-((
I know blame this for him being a fussy eater as he wouldn't eat anything if it's not mashed up, :-((, at 26 months.
But you don't have to worry, just wanted to let you know that it will pass, could happen sooner rather than later.
If you worried though, than talk to your GP and mabe ask to switch from Ranitidine and hopefully it will help.
Good luck!

carobel may work as a thickener?

have you asked about allergies? My DD is allergic to cows milk which makes her sick when unmanaged
