He is only three and a half!!

Asked him to repeat what he said 3 times and he said the same thing again and again!

Had a tear in my eye!

Have not made a big deal about it, although Dh told him not to say it again as there are much nicer words to learn.

DH got daggers from me as it has been learnt from him!

No. Of course not. Very serious.

I've been waiting for DD to come out with "Gucking Moron" for months, as that is my favourite term in the car.

A week ago your DS probably thought he was a frog for 3 days... keep with the telling him not to say it, and try and leave it alone, and he'll stop.

Oh dear. My nephew tried to spell b*gger at the weekend (wanted to swear but not in front of 2yo ds so copied the way grown-ups spell out 'c-h-o-c' etc.). He said 'b-u-g-r' and I really tried hard not to correct him but couldn't hold back... ended up saying 'X, I really don't want to encourage swearing, but if you are going to, you might as well know that it is bugger'. SIL and BIL were horrified!

I, on the other hand, thought it was rather sweet that he tried to spell it out to protect ds's delicate ears. Bless.

I know it's not funny!!! But...... It's easier to laugh (to yourself of course) and ignore it than make a big deal of it. My eldest went around saying shit for about 2 weeks, it was in nearly every sentence

Zephyrrywitchescat · 31/10/2005 16:32

dd called dp a wanker last night

(We had to laugh when she was out of sight though!!)

Gobbledispook · 31/10/2005 16:34

I was reading to the ds's yesterday. They chose a nativity book so I was reading that. I got to the part where I said the baby was born and they named him Jesus at which ds1 (4.5) pipes up 'Jesus - that's what Daddy says when he drops something on the kitchen floor' oops!

Dropinthe · 31/10/2005 20:16

Now that's funny!

Not making a big deal of it-(Moondog-was laughing when I typed that as realised that it looks funny on screen!!)-I just don't want to hear it again.

my ds said "fuck it" for a while at age 3! (thanks DH) I told him that it was bad manners! now every time somebody mentions manners he is at pains to tell them that "saying "Fuck it" is bad manners"

Surfermum · 31/10/2005 20:27

DD has got a bit confused and thinks Daddy has a wanker on his boat. We were at the beach and she said it in front of all the lifeguards "look mummy, a wanker". There was uproar, everyone thought it was so funny, which, of course, was the reaction I didn't want. She'll say it to Grandma one day, I know.

SoupDragon · 31/10/2005 20:37

pmsl!

DS1 used to sit in his toy car and say "Oh, for f%%%s sake!" He only did it in his car and we finally realised it was DHs Phrase of Choice when annoyed with other drivers.

Another favourite was when both DSs were acting up when we strapped them in the car. I said "Bloomin' kids", DH said "Flipping kids" and DS1 said "F^^king kids" and beamed. DH and I straightened up out of the car and p-ed ourselves laughing. Never said anything to DS to draw attention to it though.

I think he was 2 in the first story and around 2.75 in the second. DS2, despite being a far "naughtier" child has never picked up on swearing - either we've got better or it's not his thing.

Passionkiller · 31/10/2005 20:55

Drove all the way from St Malo to Cannes (and back) this summer to what DH christened 'the bgger song'. DD3 who was 18mts would just sing bgger, bgger, bgger to herself whenever she wanted to go to sleep. (bgger = bag, ie gro bag) By the time we got back whenever she would get whiney DH would say "oh just sing your bgger song".

Nice to see I'm not alone then-hasn't been heard again so hopefully a one off although knowing how often dh litters his sentences with expletives, probably not!

My nephew is aged 21 months and keeps calling people Bitch while pointing at them. We were all baffled as to where he had learnt it. Step forward his 14 year old sister who had taught him to say it to one of her friends. She was in real big trouble but we can't really shout at the baby so we just ignore it and hope it will go away.

Do you know the little so and so gets the context right every time and can empty a room in seconds while we laugh outside.

Hmm, my ds (O.K. he's 6 but still ....) called me a F%%ker last week, in response to being told off.

I asked where he had heard it, and a boy at school (whose mummy thinks is an angel) calls any one by that name if they cross him in the playground.

I told ds that it is a VERY nasty word, and if I hear it again I will take away his pocket money.

I'm quite surprised it hasn't been used again.
