...and dd absolutely kicked off

now that is partly a reflection of the fact that she watches too much telly, but she's been going loopy about a lot of things lately. she's 3, but it feels like we're having the terrible 2s all over again. she says she's not poorly, and I've been making her have naps again the last couple of days in case it's tiredness. still just as bad in the afternoons.

is there anything I can do about it do you think?

I think the world seems very threatening and random to them sometimes. I know at 3 they are starting to deal with it, but a sudden unexpected change to the routine can still cause major upsets. I do think we adults have the same feelings but just hide them better. Think how p*ssed off we get if the car won't start, or we ruin a favourite shirt in the wash. I don't think it's always a completely rational reaction.

it's her age...
I think the thing about the terrible two's is that just when you think the phase is over, the next one starts. just a bit different, just a bit worse than the last.
my dd started with the tantrums when she was 11 months, she is now 2.5 and she is still unpredictable. some days I just have to remind myself she is just in a bad mood, like the rest of us get, nothing more fundamental than that.
bummer for you though, and hard work.

SenoraPostrophe · 29/10/2005 21:00

maybe, franny. But she also kicked off about not being able to take a plastic shark to bed. she's a funny one.

Did she just start nursery school (or its equivalent) in Sept, SP?

buffytheharpsichordcarrier · 29/10/2005 21:05

senora LOL - my dd always has to take some sort of creature to bed. mostly a very small bright yellow octopus, then I am in there half an hour later fumbling around in the dark trying to retrieve it...

frannykenstein · 29/10/2005 21:05

I wonder where she gets it from, Senora?

SenoraPostrophe · 29/10/2005 21:07

jan - she started school - sort of like preschool, but in the school, school hours and lots of kids she doesn't know. her spanish has also gone backwards a bit....

I think i see what you're saying.

You and hc should start a support group for Aquatic Creature-Philes, or something....

(there was going to be a joke in there, somewhere....)
