Oh god aye.
And even sometimes say "stop talking!" Blush

Mercedes519 · 01/04/2011 18:22

Yes. Would post more but I can hear "mummeee"...

whomovedmychocolate · 01/04/2011 18:22

Yes constantly in the car - mine are 2 and four and they just do not shut up at all between 7am and 7pm. I am eternally grateful for the preschool for taking them for a few hours a week just so I can not hear them for a bit.

TheVisitor · 01/04/2011 18:23

Oh yes. My 12 year old daughter comes home from school then proceeds to tell me who's fallen out with who, who said what, who did what and on and on and on and on....

bintofbohemia · 01/04/2011 18:25

Oh yes. Also have aged 2 and 4 and they talk to themselves, each other, me and both at the same time. DS2 has taking to repeating "mummy mummy mummy" like I mantra and I keep saying "yes?" until I realise it makes no odds if I respond or not. Am now hiding with a cup of tea and praying for 7pm.

Spidermama · 01/04/2011 18:26

My 12 year old does exactly the same. I'm torn between wanting to shut her up and wanting lines of communication remain open for as long as possible. We all know they'll reach an age where those lines will slam shut in our faces.

bigTillyMint · 01/04/2011 18:27

I used to think that.

But now they are older and they would rather be out with their friends than chat to meSad

Dinosaurhunter · 01/04/2011 18:29

My ds (4) never, never stops talking and his such a know all
I often say to him .... Have a little rest !

MrsStudMuffin · 01/04/2011 18:34

I do tell mine to stop talking. DD especially uses 35 words when 4 will do.

TheVisitor · 01/04/2011 18:36

Spider, how many times does the word 'like' get used with yours? It's in nearly every sentence with DD. Drives me nuts!

pourmeanotherglass · 01/04/2011 18:39

yep (girls, 6 and 8)

pourmeanotherglass · 01/04/2011 18:40

It would help if they could get the hang of talking AND getting ready for school at the same time, rather than stopping every time they want to say something.

Espoo · 01/04/2011 18:50

Yes, 2 girls age 3 and 18 months. Sometimes I just want to sit in the corner and scream STOP THE VOICES!!!

blowbroth · 01/04/2011 18:55

No, never

Tamdin · 01/04/2011 19:02

YES ds1 literally never stops talking unless he's asleep! I love him dearly but my god I long for silence sometimes.

Bumperlicioso · 01/04/2011 19:13

A million times yes! Especially in the car. We have instituted 'quiet time' where dd1 has to be quiet for about 10 minutes. She is fairly cooperative about actually, even at 3. Doesn't work on the baby yet

ginmakesitallok · 01/04/2011 19:19

Our weekly trip to Brownies in the car with DD1 and her 2 friends (all aged7) is a nightmare. Just turn the radio up... At least they don't expect a response

mellicauli · 01/04/2011 19:22

What I found completely and utterly galling was after 7 years of perpetual motion in the gob department, he had the nerve to demand silence in the car to pick up his little brother from nursery. So basically he told me to shut up! Not even the radio on. Of course, I did what I was told but still..what a cheek..

5inthebed · 01/04/2011 19:28

Yes, you spend the first two years teaching them to walk and talk, and the rest telling them to sit down and shut up.

I can sympathise with you, DS1 never shuts up, he is constantly asking questions and telling you about this and that.

OTOH, DS2 has autism, and he didn't talk until he was nearly 4. I still love hearing his little voice, even after 2 years of it.

Pancakeflipper · 01/04/2011 19:33

Oh yes.

This week when collecting my eldest from school, my youngest was verbally informing the other parents around me about his day then onto the subject of pirates and their noses. Very loudly. He didn't pause for breath. Parents moved away. He's like this all day, constant commentary. It's funny but tiring.

Then a friend who was 'encouraging' him said to me. " remember when his consultant said he might never walk or talk.. Have you taken him back to show him?". That stopped my negative thoughts. Well on a temporary basis.

Clarabumps · 01/04/2011 19:44

it actually kills me!they just never shut up! mine are 2 and 3 and its constant chat and babble! Ds1 just constantly says MUmmy mummy mummy mummy, Even when he has nothing to say, i think he does it just to piss me off.by the time half 6 comes my head is actually bursting..and ds2 just shouts mummmeeeee as soon as i am out of sight!

13lucky · 01/04/2011 20:18

Yes, same here. But the thing that really tips me over the edge is when they are talking at me at the same time and getting louder each to try and out-do each other. I think we have all earned a glass of wine!

manchestermummy · 01/04/2011 22:01

Same here - DD1 3.5 talks from the moment she gets up to the moment she goes to bed. And then sometimes in her sleep!
