my LO has just eaten cardboard, i watch him very closely however, i've just left him for a second and he's managed to find a piece of cardboard and has taken a big chunk out, i managed to take what he had out of his mouth however theres more gone than what i found. will this cause problems or will it just go through his system and out the other end? :(

He'll be fine. Don't worry. It will turn to mush I'm sure.

Cardboard is great for a bit of roughage! Probably more calories than baby rice. Grin

I think DD ate a small board book a week going by the corners of them, seems fine and she is an avid reader now so I thought it worth the risk!

my DS used to eat cardboard and paper all the time, we gave up trying to stop him. he munched through an entire buggy book. don't worry at all. it will just go straight through and out the other end.

I have a stack of board books that are half eaten courtesy of DS. I am about to order replacement ones for imminent arrival #2!

Quite annoying but didn't seem to do DS1 any harm

thanks everyone :) such a relief that its ok! have hidden away cardboard, he can have the boardbooks! Sure its more difficult for him to chew and can have a read of them too!

Ds1 ate a chunk of cardboard book once. A little time later I was very disturbed and puzzled by a strange looking thing in his nappy until i realised it was part of the book, a little soggy and mushy but obviously part of a book once I realised what it was. Just went straight through!

The thread title suggests, a cardboard box monster munching on your DS Grin
My DS used to eat sand and it would come out all gritty in his nappies.

Dd2 loved paper. Didn't cause lasting harm. Best was the red glitter she drank (stored in a yoghurt pot so I think she thought it was food). Winner of the 2004 most beautiful nappy awards with the sparkles...
