I have split from abusive ex at christmas and things seem to be settling down etc etc.
I can't see really what has changed in the last few days except that I've been quite stressed, ex h still getting to me and has really wound me up the last few days Sad
Both my kids have started wetting themselves. Over the last 3 days, they have both done it at least once a day if not twice. Then last night dd (age 6) pooed in her bed and she got bathed and sheets changed and then later on got into bed with me. I woke up to find her back in her own room but my bed is wet.

I am totally fed up, exhausted and now got to wash all my sheets as well as hers and dry the mattress etc...
Please be honest with me, do you think it could be a reaction to my stress or an attention seeking thing?
Any suggestions how to deal with this without getting angry, which I realise won't help but is how I feel Sad

Ah,bless them, sounds like they might be feeling a bit vulnerable. I think the best thing to do is not to make an issue of it,just wash the sheets/clothes get them into dry ones and say something like 'never mind, we'll make it to the toilet next time'. After my second was born ds seemed fine, but about a month later started wetting, I tried to ignore it and after a week or so he was back to normal. If you're worried though maybe a trip to the gp would help? They may have other ideas, especially if the children have been through a stressful time

Are they seeing the abusive ex alone, for contact? Because sudden wetting and especially soiling, is a red flag for abuse.

Of course it may well just be stress and you have to feel sorry for the poor mitesSad The calmer and less bothered you can appear, the quicker they will get over it I would guess. Sympathies though - you must be mentally and physically exhausted.

thanks ladies,I am totally exhausted. They haven't seen their dad for 3 weeks and I'm not certain when he will see them next, he lives v far away... thank goodness for my sake!
I do honestly think this is a reaction to my stress as ex has really stepped up the campaign to upset me lately. He reported me to the benefits office for making false claims and I had to go yesterday to job centre to give a statement. HOpefully that is all sorted now but I feel wrung out.
Am waiting till Monday to phone my solicitor and try to get things sorted out...

Am determined to have a nice day today and focus on the kids and try to let go of my stress!

Ugh what a nasty manAngry You are clearly much better without him. He will be really annoyed that you are coping without him, and not being prosecuted for making false claims etc.

AWWWWwww, poor you, and poor your kids.

Yes, sounds like they are reacting. Have you got support from friends/family?
If so, grab it and then you will have energy to take this stuff in your stride- difficult but if you can just deal with straightforwardly and reassure them hopefully it will pass soon enough.

I think it could be stress. My friend's girls used to wet themselves every time they came to see me - they lived in a very volatile home situation. I would make sure they are weeing enough during the day though - it is easy to forget to go.

have been reminding them to go and insisting that they do go when I ask them, no more accidents.

Have tried to do some more one on one stuff and to be more chilled out myseklf and think that is helping
thanks for all your advice
