Four-year check with health visitor

I didn't realise such a thing existed, but apparently our health visitor is coming round next week to do my son's 4-year check. Any ideas what she will actually be checking for? (And more importantly, will she bring free Bookstart books??)

We didn't have a 4 year check (nor 2 year, for that matter). But in reception here they do an eye test and hearing.

She may well bring free books- we got them from my son's nursery.

Haven't heard of anyone having a 4 year check but guess it will be very general like the other ones- eg talking/social interaction/fine motor skills/height and weight/general behaviour- from observation and asking you.

Hope it goes well!

Don't think I've got too much to worry about then - he can talk the hind leg off a donkey and he's the most ridiculously sociable, confident little chap I've ever met. Hope she brings books - he was delighted with his last Bookstart pack.

No idea - hv saw ds when he was 2, and not since.

I'm surprised. In most areas the reception entry check is done by the school nurse.

In our area there are no checks other than the 6 week check done by the GP. It is madness how the number of developmental checks varies from area to area.
