Hi all, my 11month old DS has recently started walking and is very mobile, thing is he is still wobbly and is forever bumping his head. I've done all the obvious, moved obstacles, got corner protecters etc what else??

Some bumps/dents look pretty nasty but have always calmed down after a few mins or so, he's never sick or sleepy after but would you still see a doctor? Or is that silly? He is my PFB! Grin

I basically followed DS very very closely until I was happy he stopped being so wobbly. Took a couple of months. He had a couple of nasty falls and I kept a close eye on him but didn't take him in to see the docs as he calmed down, wasn't sick or anything out of the ordinary. The only time I did was when he fell down the stairs but he was fine. I think you need to be careful of bumps to the back of the head more than the front.

my DS was a speed crawler followed by a speed walker - as soon as he learnt to walk he ran everywhere despite being really unsteady. This resulted in falling over and bumping himself all the time - it makes for a very resilient little chap in later months, now 17 months my DS recovers from the most horrific knocks really quickly (latest was falling off a sofa head first onto the corner of a wooden stacking block on a laminate floor, impressive bruise, cried for approx 30 seconds).
I've never taken him to the doctor after a knock because he's never seemed glazed, disorientated or quiet after and he's usually bounced straight back up and started running off again. To be honest if i took him to the doctor every time he bruised himself we'd never leave the waiting room.
Iggly is right, just be careful if he knocks the back of his head.
