Just heard that i get £300 from work long service award to spend on whatever i want (can't have the cash has to be spent), so was thinking of a weekend or shortbreak away in the Uk.

Was thinking of centreparcs but it is quite expensive so will prob cost quite abit more over and above the £300, anyone got any recommendations of anywhere else suitable. We're in the Midlands so pretty much everywhere is only a few hours away

How many people are going if its just you and the nearly one year old or even you your partner and nearly one year old you only need a one room villa at centre parcs. If you go outside of school holidays you should be able to get one for under £300. We are going soon 4 adults, pre-schooler and a just over one year old and its only costing £330

Activities are extra but not many avaliable for babies and the swimming, walks, beach, play parks, little soft play areas are all free anyway. We normally take our own food (cheaper than on-site shop) and limit ourselves to eating out once a day.

I would at least take a look at the website you might be pleasantly suprised.

Have you had a look at the Hoseasons website? There are some lovely lodges and, I think, a bit cheaper than Center Parcs. We've stayed in a few with hot tubs that were great for when DS had gone to bed.

take a sling and book a nice hotel in the countryside, u can go for long walks and picnics. We stayed in a place called wye house in the peak district, serviced apartments/chateaux, its 5 * and was lovely

Centerparcs gets my vote every time, and if it is just the three of you and you are not tied to school holidays it shouldn't be too dear.

thanks for the comments everyone. I actually had another flash of inspiration and have decided to get some professional pics of the little one done instead, think thats more preferable to work as they can take a pic of my presentation. Will certainly bear the comments above in mind as centre parcs does look good and swimming is my LOs favourite thing.

Mushllimah>> A sling??? My DS is about 23 pounds, don't think my back could take a long walk with him in a sling!!
