I'm interested to hear good and bad reviews of the Bumbo. I'm thinking of buying one for my ds, 7 mos. Many thanks in advance!

I don't rate it at all - DS hardly used his and when he was in it, looked sooo uncomfortable!!

not worth buying new- rather expensive. Ours has been usefull ocasionaly, in garden when I'm hanging out washing for Example- but boy is getting too close to levering himself out now so have stopped using and will be returning it to family its borrowed from.
occupational theapist etc recon they are V bad for development if used for long periods at a time as don;t use a good sitting position, hips tilted wrong way IIRC.

i got great use out of mine.
so did 3 of my friends who all borrowed it in between children
i used it for first weaning (i put it in the dishwasher!)
great for when they have nappy rash too (nappy off...)

really thought it was worth the money.
but, do borrow one if you can!

oh and it was really really fantastic on the beach!

I would borrow a friend's if I were you. Ds hated his, would only sit in it for seconds without crying and learned to escape by hurling himself over the side by 5 months.

My DS's (7 months) nursery use it a lot for him as he is the only baby there who can't sit up yet (although he can crawl for England!) so it allows him to play with the other children and be on their level so in that respect it is great.

We have one at home though and haven't really used it that much tbh - he just drops his toys round the bottom and I spend all the time picking them back up - much better to leave him to crawl round and get his own toys

my ds is 2 and still enjoys sitting in his to watch tv. He only just fits in it as he is quite skinny

andreahargreaves · 12/02/2007 19:47

i had one since mine was 5 months to encourage sitting it is great and he enjoys it for watching us clean, tidy and wash up etc but needs a toy to play with as can get bored. worth th money. mine is now 8 months and we still use it daily BUT when they have a poo whilst sitting in it it misses nappy and goes all up thier back! just a word of warning!!!
