Hi,

It took me almost 8 months to toilet train DS and he was about 3 yrs 2 months when he cracked it apart from the odd wee accident approx once a fortnight, when he was engrossed in doing something.

He is now 3 yrs 11 months and 2 months ago when we had our daughter he started having constant wee accidents, approx 3 per day. We were told at the time by nursery and friends it was a really common problem and would be short lived but it's not getting any better.

We have tried reward charts both at home and at nursery and sweets (which he's not normally allowed) if he manages a full day with no accidents. He is managing this about once a week maximum and on the other days there is just no improvement at all.

Nursery are being really supportive but I'm getting really stressed out about it all. I know it's a few months before school starts but I'm so worried he's not going to have cracked it by then given the history.

Anyone had the same problem? Any words of wisdom?

Is he constipated? this can manifest in wee accidents as it can press on the bladder

if not, then go back a step at home:

increase fluid intake to produce more urine

set a timer and take him to the loo every hour

if he wets, change with no fuss or attention, just matter of fact changing clothes

consider going to GP to rule out a bladder/kidney infection

congrats on your new baby

There's been a lot of this recently. I am going through the exact same thing with my dd1. The consensus unfortunately seems to be to wait it out and hopefully they will get it like they did the first time.

Our trigger was moving house and preschool all at once. Couldn't really be helped but in the ensuing six months dd1 has wet herself continuously after being perfectly dry. Nothing seems to work. We're back to a star chart but it has limited success. She starts school in September and I'm hoping it will have sorted itself out by then but if it hasn't I guess we'll carry on as we are and send her in with a couple of changes of clothes. And pray that she doesn't get bullied for the rest of her school days.

Dawny, it's the bullying that's worrying me Nd exactly what I said to DH this evening.

So frustrating and it just seems so crazy!

Boysarelikedogs (fab name) I think I'm going to go with what you've suggested and hope for a miracle!

Thanks both.
