Tantrums caused by teething?

My DD is almost 19 months and has only 5 teeth so I haven't the most experience of teething! We have just had a truely awful weekend, with her in what I can only descibe as a constant bad mood. Every tiny thing has caused her to descend into a mini tears and tantrum session. I am fairly sure she has a big hard lump towards the back on her lower gum (and she has had her hands in her mouth shouting ow all weekend), so I suspect she might be getting a molar, but as she still needs 3 more front teeth I wasn't expecting the molars yet.

Anyone got any experience of this kind of "teething" behavior? Anyone else had teeth appear in a funny order?

Sounds like it's the teeth to me. Imagine what sort of mood you'd be in if you had toothache!

DD is also 19mo, and has the front 8 and is now getting molars on both sides at once Confused

She was in a seriously bad mood for the whole of last week, but seems to have settled down a bit now.

Thanks, pleased it's not just me then. I find it quite hard to deal with as she is normally the happiest little girl always laughing and smiling and chatting away, but this weekend she would walk around stiffening her arms and shaking and screaming "nooooo" over absolutely nothing!!!

Time to take a large patience pill I think :)

Yes don't worry. I am going through it with DD2 16 months and went through the same worry you did with DD1. i just assumed DD1 had a horrible personality and then her molars arrived Grin

DD2 has made me suffer for every tooth and now has 15! We are waiting for the last of her first set of molars to come through and she is a big fat nightmare. the thought of her last set of molars coming through makes me want to leave home...

I can absolutely vouch for this, my daughter is currently 17 months and everytime she has a tooth coming through everything is hard work, tantrums, hitting, shouting, just general frustration. Then when the tooth pops through within a couple of days she turns into her lovely self again. Cannot wait for all her teeth to pop through so we don't have to go through the mood changes.
