Willy trouble

DS (2.9) has suddenly become weird about his willy or bum. He won't let me take off his trousers and is afraid that I might "break it" or "open it". He says it's not sore, but I think that's to discourage my interest. His behaviour would be consistent with some kind of pain but it doesn't seem to look any different.

He gets very distressed when it's time for a nappy change, time to get dressed in the morning, and when he has to get undressed for the bath. When I do eventually get the nappy off, he wants a new one on immediately.

This began quite suddenly two days ago when he woke from his nap saying "fix it fix it" and pointing to his willy. I will try to see our gp tomorrow but he's really going to hate that.

I am not sure if this is physical (some kind of pain) or psychological. Anyone experienced anything like this? Any ideas on how to handle it?

TIA.

Do you know if he is having erections? Obviously they are not full on but their willy can get a bit harder and it can be upsetting for them. DS2 kept on telling me that his willy was hurting. It is very strange but little boys can get testosterone 'boost' at about 3-4 years old. I am not sure if this is it, but the age would match.

I will concur on the erection theory! Ds went through the same around that age.

Another option could be urine infection or thick urine due to not drinking enough, both can cause tummy ache aswell.

Will up his drink intake.

I've seen it a bit raised after naps in the past - that would make sense because the distress started after his nap.

What can I do? Currently it's taking about 20 minutes to coax him out of his trousers and that's with a lot of screaming.

I asked ds if it hurt or if it felt funny, he thought about it and said a little bit hurty and a little bit funny!

I tried to explain what was happening in a child friendly way and that it was normal. It must feel wierd and if your not expecting it then it will freak you out abit!

Could you ask you son to undress himself or help, and he will get a sticker on a chart or a tick for each item? It might take his mind off the process.

Good Luck Grin
