Vibrating watches for daytime wetting

BrokenBananaTantrum · 03/03/2011 17:40

I was wondering if anyone has used these and it has been successful in helping your child stop wetting themselves during the day. My DD is nearly 5 and we have not had more than one or two dry days since we started potty training 2 years ago. I have already tried reward charts with no success and I'm getting a bit desperate!

The watches are a bit expensive and I want to know if they work before buying one. The ones I mean are like these

I would appreciate any comments about them good or bad.

Thanks

Cana teacher not remind your DD? Have you seen the doc? Do you know why she is doing it? Is it becausesh is forgetting? You have my sympathies -DS sometimes wees but mainly pooes himself all the time (5 in March)

I have asked the teacher to remind her but I don't think they do :( When I ask her she says that she forgets to go. The only time she is dry is when she is with me or DH and we remind her every 30mins or so.

I haven't seen the doctor yet. Do you think it is time I did?

I don't think it's unusual. It's easy to believe there's something wrong when other children apparently dry day and night at 2 Hmm.
My Ds was exactly the same. He got worse when he started school because they hang on too long and you are not there to nag.He was still having the odd accident at 9 or 10.
Also teachers don't like allowing a child to go during a lesson because if one goes then 5 more put their little hands up to go.
All I would say is never be cross with her about it, and insist the teacher lets her go if she needs to.

I think it's time to go to the doctor.

I will PM you.

If you're having to remind her every 30 minutes at school age so that she doesn't wet herself then the doctor or health visitor might be a good idea.

Are you on a water meter? If you are and it turns out DD's loo breaks every 30 minutes are because of a health issue then you should be able to get bill concessions.

Thank you everyone for your replies and thanks Pretty for your PM. I am going to speak to the school nurse on Monday and see what she says.

As DD is my only one I've no experience with this so it is lovely that you have all helped out.

Thanks

Hi there, I work for the charity ERIC and we help families just like you with childhood continence - you can call us on 0117 960 3060 and we can help you with the watches and sll sorts of other helpful tips and support.

The Malem and Lofric watches are a good way to remind your child to use the toilet. They look trendy and come in a variety of colours. Please have a look on our website www.ericshop.org.uk/other-vibrating-watches.asp

best of luck,

Jenny
